Tyrogenex Inc., an Xcovery Group company based in West Palm Beach, Fla., focuses on discovering and developing novel patented cancer and ophthalmic therapeutics. Its lead compound, X-82, is an orally administered dual VEGFR/PDGFR inhibitor being developed for solid tumors and ophthalmological diseases via subsidiary Xcovery Vision. Preliminary phase 1 data in advanced solid tumors showed X-82 was well tolerated, did not exhibit dose-limiting toxicity, and demonstrated preliminary signs of anti-tumor activity. Xcovery Vision has an ongoing phase 1/2 pilot in wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and that study will be rolled into a planned phase 2 randomized study of oral X-82 for wet AMD expected to begin later this year. Tyrogenex was co-founded by Sheridan G. Snyder and Dr. Chris Liang and is affiliated with Xcovery Holdings, which is funded by Biocatalyst International. The company recently received $15 million in Series D financing from Brace Pharma to support further clinical development of X-82.
