uBank is a Moscow, Russia–based mobile payment startup founded in 2011 by Laura Ashizheva. It develops a mobile payment application for iOS and Android that enables individuals to pay phone, home internet, cable TV and other bills and transfer funds from mobile devices or PCs. The application allows users to attach several credit cards from different banks as funding sources. uBank’s app is preinstalled on Samsung and Fly smartphones sold in Russia and the CIS. The company is developing apps for BlackBerry 10 and Windows Phone. uBank raised $8M from Runa Capital and plans to use the capital for product development, marketing in Russia and the CIS, and further global expansion.
