UE LifeSciences develops the portable iBreastExam, a US FDA–cleared, hand-held breast health examination device intended to enable early detection of breast lesions. The device is painless, radiation-free, operable by nurses and social workers, and provides standardized, instant point-of-care results. iBreastExam uses patented ceramic sensors invented at Drexel University to detect variations in breast tissue stiffness, allowing real-time detection of stiffer tumors. Led by founder and CEO Mihir Shah and based in Philadelphia, the company is in talks with diagnostics chains, home healthcare providers, NGOs, and government agencies to deploy the device across urban and rural India. UE LifeSciences is working with PATH and plans local manufacturing in India while building distribution networks through public and private primary care providers. Financially, the company raised $3M in a Series A to expand trials, set up manufacturing in India, and scale distribution.
