Uhuru Design is a Brooklyn-based designer and manufacturer of furniture and operates as a full-service interior design firm across commercial, residential and hospitality sectors. Founded in 2004 and led by CEO Leo Lucisano and co-founder/chief creative officer and president Jason Horvath, the firm has completed projects for clients including Nike, Shake Shack, NBC and Vice Media. Its design pieces are held in the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Brooklyn Museum’s permanent collection, and the company has won numerous awards for its functional high-design products. Uhuru serves a national business-to-business and dealer network while also selling direct-to-consumer. The company plans to use new funds to support its national B2B and dealer network and to expand its direct-to-consumer business and go-to-market strategies. The raise included cash plus an expanded credit facility and access to additional resources to support organizational growth; terms were not disclosed.
