Uiza is an API platform for video and live-streaming that allows companies to develop their own video infrastructure independent of mainstream platforms such as YouTube. The company targets the large on-demand video and live-streaming market, which Cisco forecasted would account for 80% and 17% of internet traffic respectively by 2022. Uiza has been backed by ESP Capital and Framgia Inc and won the Tech in Asia Jakarta ARENA Pitch Battle, taking home IDR50 million (about USD 3,300). It is one of 17 startups admitted to Surge 01, the first cohort of Surge, Sequoia Capital's early-stage accelerator program in Southeast Asia. Co-founder Kevin Nguyen previously founded Topica Edtech Group’s Edumall, an online platform with two million students. Uiza recently raised USD 1.5 million from Surge.
