UK Gear develops high-performance running shoes and sportswear, initially creating the PT03 trainer in association with the British Army beginning in 2002 and completed in 2004. Since then the company expanded its trainer range to include specialist desert and winter models. The business completed a £1.125m equity financing from Catapult Venture Managers. The capital will be used to increase sales staff in both the UK and the United States. Management intends to use the expanded sales force to accelerate expansion into overseas military markets as well as traditional retail markets. CEO David Hinde said the funding underpins the company’s ambition to supply performance athletic footwear to military forces worldwide.
