Ulpia is an educational marketplace where lecturers offer online courses and events, initially focused on dentistry. The platform was founded as Conect Dentistry in 2020 by Dr Cătălin Balog Bellu and rebranded to Ulpia in 2021 with co-founder Dan Bugariu. It operates in 11 countries and performs background checks on lecturers before they present content. By the end of 2021 Ulpia reported EUR 200K in revenue and had a pre-money valuation of EUR 2M. The company plans to expand into general medicine, add national languages for the 11 countries, introduce competence-development courses for lecturers, build interactive topic communities, and link educational content to specific dentistry products. The new funding will be used for product development, content creation, sales and marketing, and hiring.
