Umbra develops graphics software that enables streaming and rendering of 3D content across target devices in real time. The company supplies solutions for displaying 3D content and to address high‑performance processing needs such as 3D scanning. Umbra says its technology has applications beyond games, including architectural planning, construction engineering, digital maps and simulations. Its client list includes game studios behind AAA titles like Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Batman: Arkham Knight, Quantum Break, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Destiny. Founded in 2006 and led by CEO Otso Mäkinen, Umbra employs specialists across Finland, the United States, Korea, China and Japan. The company intends to use the new funding to further develop its streaming and rendering technology.
