Overview

umob is a MaaS platform that fully integrates public transport, taxis and shared vehicles into a single account and app. Founded in 2021 by Bibi Jorissen and Raymon Pouwels and based in Rotterdam, the company offers access to more than 500,000 shared mobility vehicles and full public transport networks across multiple Western-European countries. Since launching its platform in February 2024 it has reported strong growth domestically and early expansion in Germany, France and Spain and has set foot in eleven European countries. The platform allows planning and payment for multi-modal journeys through one app and includes providers such as Lime, Bird and Cooltra as well as major European taxi providers. umob's mission is to reduce congestion, emissions and car ownership by serving as a link between municipalities and mobility providers and scaling sustainable mobility across Europe. With the newly raised capital the company plans to accelerate international expansion and further integrate European travel services on its in-house technical platform. umob launched its MaaS app in August 2023, bringing public transport, taxis and all shared mobility options in the Netherlands into one platform so users can plan, book and checkout trips without individual provider apps. The core product fully integrates shared mobility, taxis and public transport to increase availability and convenience of alternatives to private cars. The company collects anonymized trip and carrier data and positions itself as a central stakeholder for municipalities, mobility providers and companies to improve hub locations, mediation between providers and data exchange. umob aims to support municipalities in coordinating shared transport to increase acceptance and reduce pollution and congestion. Financially, umob previously raised €2 million in 2022 at launch and has now secured an additional €6 million to scale. The new funding will be used to connect more mobility providers to the platform and to expand internationally, starting with Belgium and targeting operation in six countries within three years.
