Umoja is advancing what it calls DeFi’s first asset risk management primitive, enabling anyone to insure market losses similar to hedge funds. The product aims to permit decentralized hedging of a wide range of asset risks—from crypto and fiat to digital bonds, real estate, and commodities. The company frames the opportunity as addressing up to a $500 trillion market. Umoja was founded by Robby Greenfield, the former Head of Social Impact at ConsenSys, and is based in Atlanta, GA. The company says it will use the raised funds to continue expanding its development efforts. Financially, the company announced a $2M funding round led by a group of blockchain and crypto investors.
