Overview

uMotif offers a patient-facing platform that captures validated patient-generated data including e-consent, eCOA, ePRO, PROM and PREM for clinical and real-world studies. Its software is deployed in over 30 countries, including China and Japan, and is used by pharma, biotech, medtech and CRO clients. The company reports high engagement and data-capture rates in excess of 90% and says an immunology study reduced data-capture timelines by 33%. uMotif highlights patent-protected technology and solutions for pain, clinical outcome and symptom tracking. The company plans to expand internationally and grow its sales, marketing and service-delivery teams. Financially, uMotif recently secured a $25.5M financing to support global expansion and further technology development. uMotif offers a patient-facing app that captures self-reported data for treatments and drug trials, which feeds into a platform sold to life sciences companies to enable faster, decentralized clinical and real-world studies. The company’s platform is used in studies across 26 countries and more than 25 therapeutic areas, and its largest study enrolled over 13,000 participants tracking pain levels and weather (featured on the BBC and published in Nature). The shift away from centralized site-based studies has been accelerated by COVID-19, increasing demand for uMotif’s patient-centered data capture. Competitors are largely U.S.-based and include SnapIOT, Medable and Clinical Ink. Management says the new funding will rapidly accelerate product development and help customers implement patient-centered research designs to get therapies to patients faster. The company has previously raised funding and the latest round brings its total funding to £7.5M. uMotif offers a cloud-based software platform that provides patient-facing technology to capture real-world data (eCOA, ePRO, eConsent) for clinical research from early phase to post-marketing trials. The platform is device-agnostic and already in use by top pharma companies including AstraZeneca, Novartis and UCB across multiple therapeutic areas. Its client base spans Europe and North America and includes global pharma companies, academic medical centres and contract research organizations. Founded in 2012 by Bruce Hellman and Ben James and based in London, the company is expanding its product capabilities and geographic reach. In June 2018 uMotif raised £2.4m in funding to scale the team, build features such as new language integration, and expand into the Asia Pacific market.
