Unagi Scooters is an Oakland-based manufacturer of electric scooters and operator of an e-scooter subscription service. Its All-Access subscription charges a flat $49 monthly fee that includes maintenance and insurance for scooter theft or damage. Subscribers receive the company's Model One scooter delivered to their home via FedEx within 72 hours. Unagi offers service in several U.S. cities including New York City, Los Angeles, Austin, Miami, Nashville, Phoenix, the San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle. The company intends to use new funding to expand the All-Access service, grow the team and increase manufacturing capacity. Unagi makes premium, portable electric scooters designed for urban commuters, emphasizing a balance of weight, range, speed and rideability. Founded in 2018, the company launched via Kickstarter and says it has seen overwhelming demand since. Its scooters weigh about 24 pounds, use dual motors totaling 450 watts, and employ materials like carbon fiber and magnesium with a patented one-click hinge for folding. Unagi highlights features such as puncture-proof 7.5" solid rubber wheels, dual electronic anti-lock brakes, and a sleek integrated command center.
