UNIREC is a sustainable clothing brand that manufactures formal jackets, sleeveless jackets, pants, shirts and t-shirts from recycled PET bottles. The company was founded in 2021 by Kapil Bhatia and is Mumbai-based. UNIREC sells its products through online retailers including Amazon and Flipkart. It reports selling more than 25,000 garments in the past 18 months and says each garment recycles an average of 10 plastic bottles. The company states it has recycled 300,000 PET bottles, recycled 6,000 kg of plastic and cut carbon emissions by over 100 tonnes. UNIREC plans to use new funding to grow market share and step up R&D to produce novel, environmentally friendly textiles.
