UpCurve Energy is a newly formed upstream-focused oil and gas company based in Houston. The company focuses on drilling, development and refracturing of unconventional resources, with an initial emphasis on unconventional shale plays across the Contiguous United States. Its planned activities include joint ventures, farm-ins, organic leasing efforts and acquisitions. Financially, UpCurve received a $100M line of equity to support its operations and growth. Backers of that financing included Post Oak Energy Capital, LP (through investment partnerships it manages) and UpCurve’s management team. The leadership is led by CEO Denis Pone, who holds four patents in enhanced oil recovery and production optimization and is credited with pioneering ConocoPhillips’ horizontal refracturing program. Other senior management, also from ConocoPhillips, include Zach Fenton (COO), J.J. Oshins (SVP of business development) and Brett Clair (CFO).
