Overview
Urban Aeronautics develops CityHawk, a car-sized, wingless eVTOL with a patented fully-enclosed Fancraft™ rotor system intended for short-distance, inner-city flights with low noise and zero emissions. The CityHawk is designed to be fueled by hydrogen and targeted at commercial air charters and ambulance/EMS use. The company reported successful test flights of its tech demonstrator, including smooth vertical takeoffs, landings, and short-distance flight in wind conditions, and cites over 300 successful prototype test flights since development began. Recent milestones include a sleek new exterior design, a partnership with California-based Hypoint to adapt hydrogen fuel-cell technology for aviation, and a pre-order from Hatzolah Air for four CityHawk eVTOLs for ambulance use. Urban Aeronautics is pursuing infrastructure studies with Skyports to evaluate vertiport needs for a hydrogen-fueled fleet. The company expects CityHawk vehicles to reach full commercial production within the next few years.
