Overview

Uviquity develops solid-state far-UVC (200-230 nm) semiconductor light sources designed to provide safe, continuous, chemical-free disinfection for air, food, and water. Its core technology is a proprietary photonic integrated circuit that couples blue laser light into frequency-doubling waveguides to produce a scalable, single-chip far-UVC solution. The company says the chip can be made small enough to fit on the tip of a finger and to integrate into standard photonic packages for fixtures, air handling systems, food processing equipment, agricultural protection systems, water purification, and consumer appliances. Uviquity emerged from stealth with $6.6M in seed funding to accelerate R&D and productization of its platform. The company was founded in 2022 and is based in Raleigh, N.C. Uviquity positions its semiconductor approach as a more compact, energy-efficient, durable, and scalable alternative to bulky gas-discharge far-UVC lamps.
