Overview
uWare Robotics is a Belgian-Spanish startup that has developed the uOne, an accessible autonomous underwater drone capable of highly detailed, geolocalised and synchronised data gathering. The uOne captures high-resolution RGB imagery, temperature and depth readings and uses company algorithms and AI to generate 2D and 3D maps and perform automated analysis. The vehicle can map up to 5,000 m2 in a two-hour dive interval, covering large areas autonomously and reducing risk to human divers. Users can program missions in minutes and deploy and retrieve the drone from a small vessel or shore without entering the water, lowering environmental impact. Target use cases include marine conservation (for example seagrass monitoring) and blue-industry applications such as creating and updating digital twins of ports, ships and infrastructure. Fraunhofer SOT has expressed interest in using the uOne for frequent monitoring of artificial reefs at the DOL. Financially, the company has secured seed funding and is preparing a growth round to fund production and international commercialisation.
