V-Glass develops next-generation vacuum insulated glass (VIG) that the company says delivers 2–3x the thermal performance of ENERGY STAR® windows, lasts twice as long, and can be produced at no greater manufacturing cost. Its technology emphasizes affordability, 100% recyclability, and use of non-toxic materials compared with existing insulated glass units. The company plans to use recent funding to advance automation and manufacturing methods and to move from lab-scale production into a pilot plant. V-Glass has a long-standing (15-year) relationship with the DOE and national labs, which has supplied non-dilutive funding and technical support, and it recently won a $1M ARPA-E grant. It also secured a contract with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC). The company is based in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
