The company offers a patent-pending platform with a quick-view grid to compare seasonal rates and property availability over a 12-month timeframe, plus live U.S.-based phone and email customer service and acts as an intermediary between homeowners and renters. Vakast says it has 1.5 million listings across 196 countries and offers 3.7 million rooms, positioning its inventory as the largest online supply of vacation rentals. The platform is designed to provide an Expedia-like search-and-book experience so consumers need not visit multiple sites. Vakast is privately held, incorporated in April 2013 and based in Newport Beach, California. The company plans to use new funding for technology development, marketing and additional staff to support increased traffic.
