Overview
Valant provides a purpose-built, cloud-based EHR and practice management platform tailored to behavioral health practices. Its integrated solution supports clinical, administrative, and financial functions for practitioners, patients, and practice owners. The platform is designed to streamline administration, save hours on clinical documentation, boost revenue per claim, and reduce staff time spent on administrative tasks. Valant positions itself as a one-stop shop and a full-suite solution with a support team made up of behavioral health experts. Following the investment, the company plans to expand how it serves customers and accelerate new client acquisition to drive broader adoption and improved patient outcomes. Valant Medical Solutions is a Seattle, WA-based provider of a software-as-a-service suite of electronic health record (EHR) and practice management solutions for behavioral health private practices. Led by co-founder and CEO David Lischner, MD, the company serves over 2,000 behavioral health practices across the United States. The company received a strategic investment from Gemspring Capital and intends to use the funds to accelerate its product roadmap and to launch new sales and marketing initiatives. Spurrier Capital Partners served as Valant's exclusive financial advisor on the transaction. The amount of the deal was not disclosed. Vālant Medical Solutions provides cloud-based EHR and electronic billing software tailored to psychiatrists, therapists, and behavioral-health professionals. Its 6.0 platform includes a secure EHR, e-billing, a patient portal, mobile notes, and customizable charting, scheduling, and e-prescribing options. The system is 2014 ONC-certified for Meaningful Use and has been a recognized EHR leader in private-practice behavioral health since 2012. Founded in 2005, Vālant supports 5,000 users in private practice across the U.S., including six public behavioral health practices. The company plans to broaden its EHR and e-billing suite capabilities for public behavioral health settings and expand its staff to accelerate product development. Valant Medical Solutions builds software to help psychiatrists manage billing and electronic medical records for their practices. The product is positioned to improve the value of behavioral health care and make practices more effective and profitable. The company says it was started to relieve the time demands on psychiatrists and mental-health professionals and highlights deep domain knowledge across the team. Leadership includes brothers David Lischner (a psychiatrist who ran Evidence Based Treatment Centers of Seattle) and Ben Lischner (a former AT&T Wireless software developer). Management says raising capital allowed faster scaling after a period of bootstrapping and outlines plans to gain market share, connect patients and providers, and provide a platform to transform health-care service delivery. Operationally, the company reported having fixed an early 24-hour outage and subsequently achieved 99.95% uptime.
