Vamo
Hohenzollernring 22-24, Koeln, North Rhine-Westphalia, 50672, Germany
Overview
Vamo helps homeowners switch from oil and gas to modern heat pump systems in under 30 days and then monitors and optimizes performance via an internet-connected control room. The company developed HeatOS, a proprietary software that manages the customer journey and the complex supply chain behind installations. Installed units form an interconnected Heat Fleet™ and a smart dispatch network the company says can reduce grid-expansion costs and save billions. Vamo expanded nationwide from its Cologne base within six months and now manages hundreds of smart heat pumps across all 16 German federal states, growing sixfold year‑over‑year. Financially, Vamo has expanded its seed round to more than €10 million after an initial €3 million in 2023. The new capital will be used to build the Vamo brand in green heating, scale its national partner network, and further develop its digital service offering. Vamo, founded in 2022 by Laurenz Ohlig, Falk Hantl and Jan Ossenbrink, develops and delivers turnkey heat-pump systems and related services. The team supports customers through planning, installation and maintenance and generates revenue via sales, rentals and services for intelligent system operation. The founders developed the idea during studies and an exchange in Copenhagen and bring prior startup experience. Vamo says it has a detailed plan through 2027 to scale operations and further optimize its installation process. A near-term operational target is to be able to replace an old gas or oil heater with an efficient heat pump within 2.5 days. The company highlights the need to install heat pumps roughly ten times faster to meet climate goals and reduce dependence on gas and oil.
