Vapor IO develops the Kinetic Edge platform and Kinetic Edge Exchange (KEX), described as the first fully integrated hardware and software platform for edge colocation, exchange, and networking services. Vapor IO completed a $90 million Series C to fund expansion of the Kinetic Edge platform in 36 U.S. markets by the end of 2021. The platform and partnership aim to support a new generation of applications that demand ultra-low latency and high-bandwidth capabilities at the edge. Vapor IO offers the industry’s first intelligent, hyper modular data center solution that integrates telemetry-optimized analytics and modular hardware to modernize legacy data center infrastructure. The company says its platform significantly lowers capex and opex and eliminates complex parking‑lot data centers by providing an integrated intelligence platform for data center workloads. Vapor IO has been focused on building telemetry-optimized data center analytics and full-stack data center automation using open source technologies. The Series A funding will be used to expand engineering and development teams and accelerate product and company growth. Cole Crawford, founder and CEO, brings over 20 years of data center industry experience and has been involved with OpenStack and the Open Compute Project.
