Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Long Beach, California, Vast is building the Haven line of modular commercial space stations designed for microgravity research, in-space manufacturing, and astronaut habitation. The company flew its Haven Demo spacecraft in 2025 to validate key technologies and is currently integrating Haven-1, slated to launch in 2027 as the world’s first commercial space station. A larger Haven-2 platform is planned to help replace the International Space Station around 2030, and Vast has also secured a private astronaut mission to the ISS through NASA. Vast pursues a vertically integrated manufacturing model that it claims has cut primary structure costs by roughly 10× compared with traditional station programs. Its roadmap ultimately includes habitats for lunar and Martian applications, aligning with a vision of enabling billions of people to live and work in space. Including the latest round, more than $1 billion has been invested in the company’s technology and facilities, providing significant capital to scale engineering, expand infrastructure, and grow headcount.
