Vaulted Deep is a biomass carbon removal and storage (BiCRS) company that turns organic wastes into a carbon-rich slurry and injects it into deep disposal wells for permanent geologic sequestration. A spinoff of Advantek Waste Management Services that launched in late 2023, Vaulted began operations using existing, permitted well infrastructure and mature injection technology. In its first full year of operations the company has issued more than 7,000 tonnes of CDR and is generating CDR at a rate of over 1,500 tonnes per month. In May 2024 Frontier facilitated a $58.3 million offtake agreement with Vaulted to permanently remove 152,480 tonnes of CO2 between 2024 and 2027. With the new financing Vaulted plans to develop additional deep injection well sites and advance a new U.S. facility called Monarch Fields to expand removal capacity. The company highlights co-benefits of its approach, including eliminating methane emissions (which it does not include in credit accounting), reducing water-borne illnesses, and preventing water and agricultural soil pollution. Vaulted is on a mission to reverse climate change by geologically sequestering end-of-life organic wastes to achieve permanent carbon removal. The company spun off from Advantek Waste Management Services LLC and applies Advantek’s decades-proven geologic sequestration technology to carbon dioxide removal. Vaulted already operates two well sites and plans to deliver thousands of tons of CDR this year. Frontier facilitated the purchase of the majority of Vaulted’s 2023 volume, with purchases from Stripe and Shopify. To accelerate its impact, Vaulted closed an $8M Seed round led by Lowercarbon Capital with participation from Earthshot Ventures, WovenEarth Ventures, Plug and Play Tech Center, Collaborative Fund, Ecosphere Ventures, and others. The team is actively hiring to scale operations and delivery.
