VAYAVISION

Ariel Sharon Blvd 8, Or Yehuda, Tel Aviv District, Israel

Overview

VAYAVISION develops perception software for level 3, 4 and 5 autonomous vehicles that fuses radar, lidar, and camera data. Its flagship product, VAYADrive 2.0, uses upsampling techniques and AI tools to recognise small objects and predict their trajectories. The solution aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of an AV's environment to improve safety. The company will use a €2.45 million SME Instrument grant from the European Commission's European Innovation Council to bring its perception software to the European market and establish a local presence. VAYAVISION was founded in 2015 and previously raised an $8 million seed round in October 2018. VAYAVISION develops a perception stack for self-driving vehicles that fuses raw sensor data from LiDAR, radar, and cameras to produce a unified model of the vehicle’s surroundings. The company positions raw data fusion as an improvement over older “object fusion” architectures, which it says produce inaccurate detections and high false-alarm rates. VAYAVISION’s technology aims to raise perception safety to levels required for broader autonomous deployment. The startup is led in part by CTO and co-founder Youval Nehmadi, who has articulated the limitations of current-generation solutions. VAYAVISION plans to use newly raised capital to fund marketing efforts and to build partnerships worldwide. The article reports a recent $8 million financing that will support these go-to-market activities.
