Vdoo delivers an automated product security platform for device manufacturers and deployers, performing complete security assessments in minutes. Its system identifies zero-day vulnerabilities, CVEs, configuration and hardening issues, standard incompliances, and other security exposures, and provides suggested prioritization and remediation mechanisms. The company is led by co-founder and CEO Netanel Davidi and has offices in the U.S., Germany, Israel and Japan. Vdoo extended its Series B with an additional $57M, increasing total capital raised to $70M. The company intends to use the funds to expand its offering into the telco and smart utility spaces. VDOO provides an automation platform that enables IoT and embedded device manufacturers to raise security at scale by implementing device-specific security requirements and step-by-step mitigation guidance. Its technology automatically generates tailor-made on-device micro-agents for active real-time protection against known and unknown threats and integrates security requirements into common task management and development environments. The platform leverages machine learning and deep analysis of a dataset covering 70M embedded systems' binaries and more than 16K versions of embedded systems to create device security profiles, run penetration testing and perform automated gap analysis. VDOO found vulnerabilities across a wide range of device types, from video-surveillance equipment and network elements to IT/OT appliances and consumer smart-home devices. The company plans to use new funding to increase market adoption, expand technical capabilities and accelerate product innovation, including automated analysis capabilities and zero-day vulnerability detection. It also intends to expand its partner and distribution network, which already includes NTT, Macnica, DNP and Fujisoft in Japan. VDOO offers an automated, end-to-end platform that analyzes IoT devices, determines device-specific security requirements via a comprehensive IoT Security Taxonomy engine, and delivers implementation guidance and certification. Its solution performs security gap analysis, issues detailed remediation plans, validates implemented features, and provides physical and digital certifications plus a digital on-device agent for post-deployment monitoring. The company says its taxonomy engine classifies tens of thousands of connected devices to balance security needs with device operation and maker business considerations. VDOO plans to use its initial funding to develop and commercialize this platform and is working with design partners on its initial release. An early beta program was slated to open to a broader group of beta customers in June 2018. The founding team includes Netanel Davidi, Uri Alter, and Asaf Karas, and the company operates in Israel, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
