Vela Games is a Dublin-based studio founded in 2018 focused on making "player-first" multiplayer cooperative games, which it describes as Multiplayer Online Co-Operative (MOCO). The studio has a core team of about 16 developers drawn from triple-A studios and plans to grow to roughly 20 while it works toward a playable title. Vela emphasizes continuous player-focused research and design iteration, led by founders Travis George, Brian Kaiser, and Lisa Newon George. The founders bring senior experience from Riot Games and Electronic Arts and expertise in player insights and anthropology. The company previously raised $3.7 million to establish the team and validate its design, and it says the new funding will accelerate delivery of its first game. LVP partner Are Mack Growen will join the board as part of the investment.
