Vela Systems develops mobile field management software for the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry that lets field teams access construction documents and complete QA/QC inspections, worklists, punchlists, commissioning and BIM updates on devices like iPads and Tablet PCs. Home-office teams use the internet-based system to oversee quality and safety programs, coordinate among trades, and connect field information to BIM models for handover and facility management. Its product is fully integrated with Autodesk Navisworks Manage so Navisworks models can reflect field-gathered data. Vela says using its software measurably improves project quality and profitability and eliminates the need for paper drawings on the jobsite. Coming off a record-breaking first half of 2010, the company closed a $6M Series B to support growth and partner expansion.
