Overview
Velabs Therapeutics is a Heidelberg-based spin-off of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and its technology transfer arm EMBLEM. The company has developed a droplet-based microfluidic screening platform that can rapidly generate and test millions of correctly paired, fully natural human and mouse antibodies for therapeutic effects. Velabs offers customized functional antibody screening services and maintains existing pharma co-development partnerships. It is also building its own pipeline of preclinical functional antibody candidates for further joint development with partners. The company intends to use new funds to advance its functional antibody screening program, strengthen its pipeline against diseases with poor treatment options, and expand its platform into new pharma-based co-development deals. Velabs closed a €3m Series B financing to support these efforts.
