Overview

Amphix Bio is a Chicago-based Northwestern University spin-out (founded in 2021) creating a new class of Supramolecular Therapeutic Peptides (STPs) that regenerate tissue and modulate immune responses in neurological injuries, neurodegenerative diseases, and musculoskeletal disorders. The STP platform assembles thousands of modified peptide molecules into nanostructures that more potently activate cell receptors while forming scaffolds to support biological repair. Lead candidate AMFX-200, aimed at acute spinal cord injury, has received FDA Orphan Drug Designation and positive Type C meeting feedback. A second program, AMFX-100 for degenerative disc disease, holds FDA Breakthrough Device Designation. The pipeline also targets chronic SCI, ischemic stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and ALS. Amphix Bio’s mission is to extend human healthspan by restoring lost function through regenerative medicine. The company has raised a total of $18 million in combined dilutive and non-dilutive funding to progress its candidates toward first-in-human trials.
