Ventoura is a mobile-first peer-to-peer travel platform with iOS and Android apps that combines traveler-to-traveler matching and local-led off-guidebook tours. Travelers can connect with others headed to the same destination while locals can list paid tours and accept in-app payments. Ventoura takes a commission on booked tours as a built-in revenue stream. The app was trialled in Helsinki with around 50 local guides and launched publicly at the end of last week. Ventoura was founded last May and is based in Finland. The startup enters a crowded market that includes Trip4Real, Vayable, Peek, Musement, LovliLocals, MeetJune and Couchsurfing, and aims to drive growth by combining social matching with guiding.
