Vermeer
254 36th Street, Brooklyn, New York, 11232, United States
Overview
Headquartered in New York with forward operations in Kyiv, Vermeer builds a Visual Positioning System (VPS) that uses electro-optical or infrared cameras, landmark databases, and AI to give drones precise, GPS-free navigation even when satellite signals are jammed or spoofed. The passive, signal-independent architecture makes the technology attractive for both defense missions and civilian aerial applications such as autonomous vehicles and remote delivery. Vermeer counts more than 30 customers, including the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and its VPS is already deployed on the battlefield in Ukraine. The company emerged from the U.S. Air Force Techstars accelerator, where it secured over $7 million in SBIR and AFWERX non-dilutive awards to refine its technology. Staff has grown from 10 to 40 employees over the past year as demand accelerates. Proceeds from the latest financing will be used to scale product development and deepen partnerships with the U.S. military, NATO allies, and Ukrainian forces. Longer-term, Vermeer aims to make its VPS the standard navigation layer for drones, robots, and other autonomous systems worldwide.
