Overview
Verretex is an EPFL spin-off based in Saint-Sulpice that has developed a proprietary process which cleans glass fibers at the microscopic level, restoring their mechanical properties so they can replace virgin fibers without requiring changes to existing manufacturing equipment. Its non-woven recycled glass-fiber textiles target industries such as wind energy, automotive, aerospace and marine, all of which face regulatory and cost pressure to decarbonize materials. Conventional recycling methods degrade fiber quality, leaving most composite waste destined for incineration or landfill; Verretex’s technology closes this gap by producing structural-grade fibers from end-of-life composites. The company has already demonstrated commercial viability, including a pilot study with wind-turbine maker Ryse Energy that confirmed the recycled textile meets stringent strength and durability requirements. With the new capital, Verretex plans to scale industrial production capacity and penetrate broader global markets. Management projects that the addressable market for recycled glass-fiber textiles will reach USD 1.5 billion by 2030. No revenue figures were disclosed in the article.
