Overview
Vertigo is a mobile app that lets users share music sessions so friends listen to the same song beat-for-beat in real time. The app connects to users' Spotify Premium accounts and activates songs that users already have rights to in order to avoid public-performance and distribution legal issues. Sessions can be shared privately (a plus one), with a core group, or publicly, and can be overlaid with text, video, and pictures for a more interactive experience. Founder Greg Leekley positions the product for long-distance relationships and everyday use by young millennials and Gen Z, who want real-time shared experiences. Vertigo has signed on Spotify Premium as a platform and hopes to add other services such as Apple Music. The company has raised upwards of $10 million.
