Veryan Medical is a Horsham, UK–based developer of innovative solutions for vascular disease that applies biomimicry principles. Incorporated in June 2003 as a spin-out from Imperial College London and led by CEO Chas Taylor, the company has developed a proprietary stent technology, BioMimics 3D™, which imposes a three-dimensional helical profile onto conventional vascular stents to mimic the natural geometry of human blood vessels. Veryan's research and development facility is located in Galway, Ireland. The company has raised £5m in the current funding round. The round was led by Imperial Innovations Group plc, which holds a 48.4% stake, and Seroba Kernel Life Sciences, with participation from Veryan Chairman Dr. Geoffrey Vernon. It secured £3.6m (approximately US$5.4m) in additional funding. The funds will finance further development activities and a pivotal clinical trial designed to show the clinical benefit of the stent.
