Vestigo Aerospace develops dragsail deorbit systems (the Spinnaker product line) to enable timely end-of-mission disposal for CubeSats, small satellites and upper stages. The Spinnaker dragsails provide standardized mechanical and electrical interfaces for straightforward integration and can be deployed on command or via a backup timer to ensure deorbit even if the host vehicle is inoperative. Vestigo will use the seed investment and a matching NASA SBIR Phase II‑E award to establish commercial manufacturing for its dragsail product line and anticipates initial sales in 2023. Prior development was funded through NASA SBIR Phase I and Phase II contracts and matching funds from Indiana-based Elevate Ventures, and the technology was licensed through the Purdue Research Foundation. The company positions Spinnaker to help customers meet regulatory deorbit timelines and to capture FCC streamlined licensing and fee savings for faster deorbit capability. Founded in 2019, Vestigo is led by founder and CEO David Spencer, an adjunct associate professor at Purdue University.
