ReGear Life Sciences develops the ReBound, a four-pound device that delivers an electromagnetic field to generate therapeutic heating up to 4 centimeters below the skin to reduce pain and improve mobility and flexibility. The device is sold with multiple therapy garments containing heating coils shaped to fit different body parts. ReGear began in the sports and military markets after licensing its technology from the U.S. Navy and is targeting the long-term care market as its primary commercial opportunity. The company markets the ReBound for conditions including arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis and shin splints. ReGear lists professional sports teams and universities among customers (Chicago Cubs, Memphis Grizzlies, Florida State University) and a major long-term care operator, Life Care Centers of America, which manages hundreds of centers. According to regulatory filings the company has raised equity capital recently, with Stonewood Capital Management identified as its lead investor. The company began in college athletics and licensed its technology from the U.S. Navy. Its client roster includes military groups, pro sports teams (Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Cubs, Memphis Grizzlies), Florida State University, and last year it signed Life Care Centers of America, which operates or manages about 220 nursing centers. ReGear has seen revenue grow "dramatically" due to rapid expansion into assisted-living and long-term care facilities and the three-year-old company is already profitable. The business will use the recent funding to increase production of the ReBound and ultimately hopes to release a home-use version for arthritis and other pain conditions. Management also plans geographic expansion into Europe and the Middle East. ReGear Life Sciences develops ReBound, a portable warming device used to treat muscle spasms and pain from osteoarthritis, soft tissue injuries, back disorders and other conditions requiring thermotherapy. The device is currently available by prescription and can be used in home health care today. The company raised a $2.5 million Series A to build a version of ReBound specifically for the home health-care market and to expand further into sports medicine, physical medicine, rehabilitation, and the chiropractic markets. Management said they need to create an operations infrastructure to manage at-home patients, including delivery and billing, and to enable practitioner control over patient usage. Stonewood Capital led the round and its managing director, John Tippins, will join ReGear’s board. There is no timetable on the new device; ReGear began fundraising in July.
