Overview
VideaHealth offers an AI-powered platform that analyzes dental data to support clinicians in identifying and treating a wide range of dental conditions and to streamline clinical and administrative workflows. The platform is used across North America and is reported to analyze millions of patients annually. Since its launch in 2022, VideaHealth has established partnerships with large DSOs (including Heartland Dental and DentalCorp) and with Henry Schein One for the dental education market. Customers cite improved same-practice revenue growth, increased provider satisfaction, and easier workflows driven by Videa’s tools. The company plans to use new capital to scale its AI platform, broaden product offerings (including AI-generated workflow tools and revenue cycle management), and expand into new markets. Headquartered in Boston, VideaHealth is positioning itself to lead dental AI adoption across clinics and DSOs. VideaHealth offers an AI-powered diagnosis and presentation platform that analyzes over 15 clinical indicators — including cavities, tooth-structure loss, radiographic bone loss, calculus and periapical radiolucency — to help dentists detect and communicate conditions during patient visits. Its tools drive faster, more accurate diagnoses, increase case acceptance, automate workflows for treatment planning and charting, and aim to reduce invasive care and costs for patients. A joint study with Heartland Dental showed the platform detected 46% more caries lesions and reduced errors by 10%; VideaHealth also reports a 31% increase in cavity diagnosis rate and a 26% increase in treatment-plan value. The company is expecting regulatory clearance for its AI-based clinical image processing within the coming months. VideaHealth plans to use new funding to expand its diagnostics to dentists and aims to be the leading AI solution for more than 6,750 practices by the end of 2023. Founded in 2018 out of Harvard and MIT research, the company is headquartered in Boston and partners with large DSOs and dental providers. VideaHealth develops machine-learning and image-recognition software that analyzes dental x-rays to help dentists detect disease more reliably, accurately and earlier. CEO Florian Hillen, an MIT- and Harvard-educated researcher, launched the company about a year ago after researching dentistry and machine learning. The product is positioned as a support tool for dentists rather than a replacement for clinicians, and the company cites competitors such as Pearl. VideaHealth has established collaborations with dental clinics across the U.S., including a partnership with Heartland Dental, which operates more than 950 clinics. The company currently has seven employees and plans to use the new funding to hire broadly and continue research and development. VideaHealth aims to introduce a standard of care across practices as dental businesses consolidate into larger service providers.
