Overview
VideoGenie is a platform for brands to engage fans and collect customer-generated testimonial videos. The service lets brands gather, manage, publish and analyze videos and requires no training or special experience to implement. Customers can incorporate authentic video content into a broad range of marketing and customer engagement initiatives. The company has been selected by brands and organizations including Levi’s, Intuit, Sony Music and the U.S. Department of State. VideoGenie launched at Disrupt in May 2010 and says it broke even within eight months without spending on marketing or having a dedicated sales team. It has relied on operating income to fund product development and new customer acquisition. Proceeds from the financing will be used to expand the VideoGenie solution set and grow the team. VideoGenie launched at TechCrunch Disrupt and aims to transform how consumers and brands connect by using short video content instead of text. The service automatically creates compilation videos so companies can solicit and surface spontaneous, authentic customer testimonials, reviews, suggestions, and corporate communications. Its product centers on three pillars: easy, time-constrained video capturing; simple content management tools; and single-click distribution. VideoGenie positions its technology as an affordable, efficient alternative to traditional video production that avoids expensive training and software. The startup has raised an undisclosed angel round from Google CEO Eric Schmidt, Daniel Zumino, and Tomorrow Ventures. The company is located in downtown Palo Alto and says it will leave moderation and messaging to the brands.
