VidPal operates VidPalTravel.com, connecting freelance videographers to New York City visitors for on-demand video requests. Users choose a location on a map, describe their request, set a deadline and a price, and freelancers bid to earn the offered "bounty." The service is free to sign up. VidPal is led by entrepreneur John Ortega with CTO Jaime Gonzalez. The company plans to expand the service and go mobile and is actively recruiting freelancers in New York to fulfill video requests. VidPal expected to have 10,000 subscribers by October 2015.
