Vimcar is a Berlin-based provider of fleet management software for SMEs with one to 200 vehicles. Its SaaS solutions cover fleet management functions including real-time vehicle tracking, theft warning, and route planning. The company also offers a digital logbook that satisfies financial authorities' legal requirements in the DACH region. More than 60,000 customers use its software, including Deutsche Bahn, Allianz, Free Now, Knauf, Koziol, and Nippon Seiki. Led by co-CEOs Andreas Schneider and Christian Siewek, Vimcar received a growth investment from Battery Ventures and intends to use the funds to expand its reach in the DACH region. The amount of the deal was not disclosed. Vimcar began as a mileage-logging product and has since expanded into a dynamic fleet management platform tailored to SMEs. The company combines SaaS and IoT to help businesses manage vehicle fleets more efficiently. Vimcar has connected more than 50,000 cars and counts customers including Allianz, Zalando, Ford, Adecco and Deutsche Bahn. The startup plans to use new funding to accelerate product development, sales and marketing, and to expand its product offerings. Vimcar is also exploring entering markets outside of Germany. Financially, the company has prior funding history of about $7 million raised before the latest round. Vimcar offers an internet-connected aftermarket OBDII adapter paired with an app that captures live car data and automates trip logging, aimed at simplifying mileage tracking for SMBs. The product aggregates data sources into a one-stop, easy-to-use software experience for companies without dedicated fleet managers. Current features include trip logging for tax purposes, and the company is integrating additional data like fuel cards, driver licenses and leasing contracts. Vimcar’s long-term plan is to evolve into a fully fledged digital fleet manager that can automatically manage customers’ fleets with minimal human interaction. The startup positions its consumer-grade, easy-to-use product against larger competitors such as Fleetmatics and TomTom’s Webfleet. Financially, Vimcar has raised $5.5 million in Series A funding to help realize this roadmap.
