Overview
Vimeo has shifted from trying to be a consumer video destination to selling video tools to enterprises and other businesses. It offers products including a recently launched free video messaging product called Vimeo Record and other tools to simplify how businesses create and share video. The company reports 1.5 million paying subscribers and more than 3,500 enterprise clients, including Amazon, Starbucks, Deloitte, Zendesk, Rite Aid and Siemens. In Q3, Vimeo grew revenue 44% year‑over‑year to $75.1 million and posted its first quarter of positive EBITDA of $3.4 million. Vimeo says it plans to access additional capital to pursue growth and to enable its highest ambitions, and its parent IAC is "contemplating" spinning Vimeo off to shareholders. The recent private fundraising was intended to bolster Vimeo’s balance sheet and to repay capital to IAC as it considers separation.
