Overview
Vinfolio, based in San Francisco, is an online marketplace serving fine wine fans and collectors. The company provides technology to purchase and manage wine collections and to share users' ratings and opinions with others. It competes with Wine.com, Snooth, Vinogusto and Cork'd. Vinfolio has raised capital in the past, most recently securing $4.5 million in a Series A led by Panorama Capital. AOL co-founder Steve Case's investment company, Revolution, has invested an undisclosed sum and Revolution partners David Golden and Philippe Bourguignon will join Vinfolio's board. Deal terms and the size of the new investment were not disclosed. Vinfolio operates an online marketplace and community that combines a set of integrated services and resources for wine enthusiasts and collectors. Its Vinfolio Marketplace lists more than 250,000 wines up for bidding. The company provides tools to buy, sell, manage and enjoy wine through that platform and related services. CEO Stephen J. Bachmann said recent funding will be used primarily to accelerate growth of the Marketplace. Vinfolio also plans to use the investment to expand its presence in Asia. Prior to the Series A, the company had received an undisclosed amount of angel investment.
