Overview
Vinterior is an online marketplace for second-hand and vintage furniture, connecting sellers and buyers of pre-owned home furnishings. The platform has 300,000 registered users and has processed more than £75m in gross merchandise volume. It has previously raised £12m in funding, including a £3m investment from Channel 4, and recently completed a crowdfunding campaign that raised £947,622 from 283 investors on Republic Europe (formerly Seedrs). The company attributes recent customer acquisition to advertising in the London Underground and on buses, which increased brand awareness in London. Through its Channel 4 partnership Vinterior plans to use TV advertising and placements tied to home improvement shows such as Grand Designs to fuel UK expansion. The company says it has a proven business model and is ready to expand across the UK. Vinterior operates an online marketplace for buying and selling pre-loved, quality furniture. The company has entered a £3 million media-for-equity partnership with Channel 4 Ventures to secure television advertising starting in the autumn/September. The TV push will target audiences for Channel 4 home-improvement shows such as Grand Designs to raise awareness. Founder and CEO Sandrine Zhang Ferron said Vinterior has seen strong results from above-the-line advertising in London and expects TV to position the company as the destination for pre-loved furniture. The deal includes backing from investor Vinay Solanki and is intended to fuel Vinterior's UK expansion. Vinterior is a re-commerce marketplace that connects consumers with vintage and antique furniture and home accessories. Founded in 2016 by Sandrine Zhang Ferron and Leslie Fournier, the company uses technology to simplify sourcing and purchasing unique, sustainable pieces. It has grown from a handful of dealers in London to over 1,800 sellers across more than 30 countries. The business has seen 120% year-over-year growth, has moved over $200 million in vintage and antique assets, and currently employs 43 staff. Vinterior positions itself against fast-furniture culture by focusing on sustainability and uniqueness. With the new funding the company plans to further drive international expansion and team growth.
