Overview
ViriCiti is a telematics platform for electric and mixed bus fleets, founded in Amsterdam in 2015. The platform provides real-time insight into vehicle status and monitors charging infrastructure. It helps operators charge vehicles at the right time and avoid peak demand fees. The company claims to serve over 50% of the electric bus market in Europe and the US and lists customers including Stanford University, New York City Transit, Toronto Transit Commission, and a Silicon Valley technology company that ordered 500 systems. ViriCiti runs an office in South Carolina to serve customers and plans to use new capital to expand further into North American markets. ViriCiti offers a cloud-based monitoring system that collects telemetry from electric buses and trucks and translates it into actionable insights for bus operators, OEMs and public-transport authorities. Its platform is already in use by operators in 12 countries and by customers including BYD, Proterra and Optare. The software is used to increase vehicle range and uptime, improve scheduling accuracy and enable preventive maintenance to reduce operating costs and improve reliability. ViriCiti says it is market leader in Europe and North America and has expanded across Europe and the US. The company announced an investment of €700,000 from Mainport Innovation Fund II and Breesaap Green Link to accelerate international expansion and grow its salesforce. Management highlighted a deployment with BYD operating 35 e-buses at Schiphol as an example of commercial traction.
