1801 Market Street Suite 2701, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19103, United States
Overview
Viridity Energy offers the VPower™ demand response and demand management software platform and battery storage solutions. Since its inception in 2009 the company has built one of the largest behind-the-meter battery storage portfolios on the U.S. East Coast and serves over 2,000 large commercial and industrial end-users. It distributes through an extensive channel partner network including Engie and ConEdison Solutions as well as direct sales to high-demand electricity users. Viridity highlights projects such as a recently commissioned 7 MW solar-plus-storage project in Ohio with Half Moon Ventures and an 8.75 MW regenerative braking project under construction with SEPTA, Constellation, ABB and Saft. Its VPower platform uses proprietary peak-shaving algorithms and automated, real-time sales of load flexibility into wholesale electric power markets to maximize revenue and savings. The company is using new capital to expand software technology and services for demand response and battery storage customers. Founded in 2008 and based in Pennsylvania, Viridity Energy offers distributed demand management software, systems and services that can turn energy-consuming businesses into producers and sellers of power. Its technology helps customers control and reduce consumption and capture and store energy — for example, capturing braking energy from SEPTA trains into rail-side battery arrays and routing it back to the third rail. Customers to date include retailers, hospitals, universities and various military and government agencies. Near-term plans include deploying similar systems to other cities and transit systems this year and developing more micro-grids in the northeastern U.S., California and Texas. The company positions itself as a technology-agnostic market enabler and plans partnerships with smart-grid players, equipment manufacturers, and energy finance programs. The new capital will be used to hire technical and sales talent and to accelerate project deployment and partnerships.
