219 Moffett Park Dr, Sunnyvale, CA, 94089, US

Overview

Virsto Software develops a multi-platform VM-centric storage hypervisor designed to help enterprise, private and public cloud customers increase performance and management flexibility while lowering storage costs. The company partners with Citrix, Microsoft and VMware and maintains satellite development operations in Melbourne, Australia and Minsk, Belarus. Founded in 2007 and led by CEO Mark Davis, Virsto acquired EvoStor earlier this year. Virsto is based in Sunnyvale, California. The company executed a $5M follow-on to its Series B round, bringing the total raised in the round to $17M. It intends to use the additional funding to accelerate growth, broaden industry partnerships, expand hiring to support continued product innovation and enter the VMware market this year. Virsto develops a hypervisor-based storage solution called Virsto One that is architected to be storage- and hypervisor-agnostic. The software is designed to virtualize storage-intensive workloads, maximize consolidation of server and storage hardware, and reduce storage management complexity. Virsto says its product helps enterprise, private and public cloud customers increase performance while lowering storage costs. The company recently acquired EvoStor, a storage virtualization startup focused on VMware environments; financial terms were not disclosed. Virsto will use the new funding to drive growth, product development, and expand partnerships. The round brings the company’s total funding to $19 million. Virsto Software positions itself as the creator of virtual storage space, offering products designed to manage storage issues that arise from server virtualization. The company says its products can handle any storage issues tied to virtualized servers but has not yet released product specifics. Virsto is based in Mountain View, Calif. It raised $7 million in a first round of funding led by August Capital. That financing brings the company’s total capital raised to $8.25 million. According to VentureWire, the round is intended to give makers of server virtualization equipment a boost.
