VirtualWorks Group develops a content virtualization platform built on its Virtual Index Architecture™ to index and virtualize all types of enterprise data. The platform is designed to let employees rapidly and securely retrieve files from any application, location or device, whether data is structured or unstructured, cloud‑stored or hosted locally. The company says the approach addresses data sprawl and information overload for organizations of all sizes. Customers include more than 300 private and public sector organizations in Norway (where the company has offices), Sweden and the United States. VirtualWorks formally launched on June 1, 2011 and is led by chairman and CEO Edward Iacobucci. The company intends to use the recent financing as operating capital to deliver its first platform during the summer.
