Virtudent operates enterprise-quality mobile dental clinics and a tele-dentistry platform that brings preventive dental visits onsite for employers using portable kits and remote dentist review. A Virtudent dental hygienist performs advanced cleanings, comprehensive oral exams, digital x-rays and intraoral photos which are reviewed remotely by a team of dentists who can submit referrals for additional treatment and help patients find in-network local providers. The company partners with employers including Wayfair, Kronos, LogMeIn, and athenahealth, and runs a program with Northeast Delta Dental that has served 4,200 children at Boys and Girls Clubs of New Hampshire. Virtudent says the average patient hasn’t been to the dentist in almost six years and that its tele-dentistry offering can be completed in about 45 minutes versus an average four-hour traditional visit. Headquartered in Newton, Mass., the company plans to expand beyond its current New England markets into new geographies. Financially, Virtudent recently closed an $8 million Series A to scale its enterprise mobile and tele-dentistry services.
