Virtue Poker builds a decentralized online poker platform using Ethereum smart contracts, sidechain infrastructure, and P2P networking to increase transparency and security for players. The product aims to remove untrusted middlemen and deliver verifiable fair play. The company was founded in 2016 within Consensys and has received backing and involvement from Consensys leadership and Poker Hall of Famer Phil Ivey. Virtue Poker is the first and only blockchain-based poker company licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority after nearly two years of collaboration with the regulator. The team plans a mainnet launch scheduled for May 2021 and will host an exhibition tournament featuring players such as Phil Ivey and Joe Lubin as part of the launch. The recent strategic funding will be used to bootstrap that mainnet rollout and go-to-market activities.
